About The Event

Sophie is a printmaker from Leeds and the founder of Ink & Bear, a company that focuses on injecting creativity into people's lives. Sophie is a big believer that anyone can enjoy the process of being creative and there's no need to be able to 'draw' in Sophie's printmaking workshops. Come along on your own, or with a friend, and enjoy a relaxing evening of getting creative and walk away with a new skill and a set of prints you'll be really proud of. Sophie is keen on making art as accessible as possible so will teach you an at home method of printing you can do to continue developing your new skill at home.

This session will focus on lino printing and female power - there's no pressure to be able to 'draw' and you can make abstract prints inspired by the female form or whatever female power means to you!

In this beginners' intro to linoprint workshop, you will learn about how to transfer your design onto a block, how to cut your design into the lino and how to print your design using ink. We'll be using wooden spoons to transfer your design onto paper, so you can learn to do it at home, and you'll get chance to use a printing press too!The Pink Room is a shop & therapy studio in the heart of Leeds dedicated to empowering women.  It's an incredible, inspiring space and is perfect for a workshop where you can take some time out and get creative.Y

ou'll be able to make a series of A5 prints, or a set of cards to take away with you. Don't worry if you're not a confident drawer, I will show you how to make abstract designs or trace from an existing design. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to take some time out, get creative and have some fun.All materials for use at the workshop are included in the price. I recommend you bring some ideas with you for your design so you can get started straight away! Stuck for ideas? Get in touch and I can send you some inspiration through of some lino printmakers I love!

Please note this workshop is for those ages 16+. We'll be using sharp tools to cut out the paper design and I will be providing a health and safety briefing. In purchasing the ticket to this workshop you accept full responsibility for your own safety when using the sharp implements. No prior experience neccessary!
